Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that helps improve the appearance of skin including acne scars and minimize signs of aging.

About CytoStem Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that helps improve the appearance of skin such as decreasing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and minimizes signs of aging. At Harmony Health & Wellness, we use the CytoPen device to offer the CytoStem Microneedling procedure, which is a state of the art medical device available only to medical professionals. The CytoPen is utilized to make tiny injuries to the skin surface, which tells your body to produce collagen and elastin to heal itself, resulting in skin rejuvenation. We use a special serum called CytoSerum in conjunction with your microneedling procedure to induce stem cell growth factors and peptides further help with the collagen and elastin production.

Best results are experienced with a total of 3 sessions, each 4-6 weeks apart.

What to Expect

Prior to the treatment, you will receive numbing treatment to make the treatment relatively painless. Your face will be cleansed with a medical grade facial cleanser. During the procedure, we utilize a solution that includes stem cell cytokines, growth factors, hyaluronic acid, and seven peptides that are anti-inflammatory and non-allergenic. The treatment takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Following the procedure, we apply our 2 different medical grade post-care products. The first product includes stem cell cytokines, growth factors and peptide biologics in a hydrating gel. The second product is a hydrating cream that includes including cytokines, growth factors, peptides, Retinol, antioxidants, vitamins, essential oils.

Pre-Procedure Instructions

• Avoid extreme sun exposure for one month prior and post treatment.

• Avoid retinoid products, and glycolic acid products for 1 week prior to treatment.

• Avoid over the counter NSAID medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, and Aspirin 1 week prior to treatment.

• If you are on prescription medications that thin your blood, notify your provider prior to your microneedling session to determine if these can be held prior to your procedure.

• Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores. The provider may decide to pre-treat you with an anti-viral medication to prevent any outbreaks.

• It is preferred that you arrive for your appointment clean-faced without makeup, moisturizer, or lotions on the day of the treatment.

• Notify your doctor if you have any history of keloidal scarring, metal or skin allergies, or if you have been on Isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6 months.

Post-Care Instructions

• Immediately After Treatment: Do not wash your face the night of your treatment. If your skin feels dry or tight, apply a gentle moisturizer (or the post-treatment product you receive from Harmony Health). Avoid partaking in activities that will heat up your skin, such as going in a hot tub/Jacuzzi/sauna, taking a very hot shower, or strenuous exercise for 2 days after treatment.

• First Few Days: Gently cleansing and moisturize over the next few days. Avoid scrubbing, rubbing, or using exfoliants for 1 week. Apply sunscreen daily! You can use makeup if needed starting the day after treatment.

• First Week of Healing: Keep treated area clean; avoid smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, excessive exercise, sweating, swimming, or exposing skin to heat and sun.

• Skin Care Products: All of your skin care products should be non-irritating and non-clogging for the first week or so after treatment. Moisturizer or post-treatment creams should be applied one to two times per day. You can also use a vitamin C serum daily to help with healing and to decrease pigmentation.

• Scrubs, Toners, Glycolic Acid, and retinoids: Your skin may be sensitive for the first week or two after treatment. Do not use products that will cause irritation during this time. Please do not use any scrubs, toners, glycolic acid, retinoids (RetinA or retinol), or bleaching creams (hydroquinone) until your skin has healed, unless otherwise directed by your provider.

• Sunscreen: It is very important that you use sunscreen to prevent discoloration and sun damage to the skin while it is healing. Use sunscreen daily for at least 3 months after your last treatment.  Your sunscreen should have a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more.

• Abnormal Healing: If you notice any pimples, blisters, cuts, bruises, crusting/scabs, areas of raw skin, ulcerations, active bleeding, increased discomfort or pain, pigment changes (lighter or darker than usual complexion) or any other problems, please contact us as soon as possible.

• A week after your microneedling treatment, most patients note that their skin is smoother and more radiant.
